Radio (City Music Hall) Silence

So I obviously haven't done so well with my resolution to keep up with a consistent blogging schedule, but I'm working on it.  Don't give up on me yet!

I got back on Monday night from a long weekend in NYC with Mama Quiche, my sister & her friend (who I have known since I was a little girl).  We were celebrating our friends 40th birthday, Big Apple Style.  And did we ever!  I still can't believe how much action we packed into 4 days...  I ended up feeling sick starting on the plane ride home & am just now starting to feel better.  Yikes!

Surprisingly, I didn't take very many pictures.  I think because the flashbulbs were popping left & right all around me (no, not paparazzi...my travel companions!) I didn't feel the need to take as many & just hope to poach pictures off all of them.  Soon!  Until then, here is a sampling of shots I took.

Flat Iron Building

Pasta Aisle at Eataly

30 Rock

Pizza at Pulino's (AH-mazing, recommendation from Try Anything Once)

Mural on Houston

Our hotel lobby, which was really well done!  I was impressed.

Chicago!

Dance, dance!

Crepes at Shade Bar (where mt husband & I went on our first trip to NYC in 2005)

Today Show!

We also have a couple of pictures of the TV that shows how close we were to the action!  This was on my mom's bucket list, and I'm glad we were able to go while her boyfriend (Matt Lauer) is still there.  So much fun!

We made signs.  It was awesome.

We also walked all around the city, shopped, ate a lot, shopped, walked, ate, went to MoMA, the Public Library, Bryant Park, Times Square (a lot b/c it was right by our hotel), met up with family, walked, shopped & ate some more!

Have a great weekend!

Mom's Here! & Other Things

As it is every year, December has been a busy, busy month.  Starting with multiple holiday parties the first weekend of the month and continuing through the new year, it's nothing short of a miracle that we manage to make it through the month (relatively) unscathed.  As clients want things in their homes finished up before company arrives for the holidays, blogging has taken a back seat.  Hopefully that will change in the new year, but I'm not promising anything :)  So, I just decided to do a brain dump post & hope for the best.

I've frequently mentioned how much I love my mom & how much she rocks, right?  Well anyway, I do & she does and we had a blast when she was here a couple of weeks ago.  It was an impromptu trip, but we managed to fill every last minute with things to do.

Things like shopping downtown, Kriskindlemarkt, dinner at the Walnut Room, cleaning, decorating, cleaning & decorating outside (9 garbage bags later...thanks mom!), cooking & baking.  It was so much fun!

Next up?  Derby, bien sur!  She has been such a good girl this year, so there are a few things in her stocking.  We used this picture for our Christmas cards (which STILL HAVEN'T ARRIVED) & then I realized that I forgot to "sign" Derby's name on the card.  I feel really bad, so I may go out and buy a paw shaped stamp and stamp beside our names :/  Sorry Derb!

This is what she does when we leave - it cracks me up!  We were able to catch it on the camera before she sat down.  I wish the quality was better because I love this picture.

We've had lots of holiday parties & this one with our friends is always a favorite.  We do the secret santa thing where you can steal gifts if you don't like yours.  The only rule is that the item you bring must be in your house at the time that you receive the invitation.  There are always funny gifts as well as great gifts.  The camo Snuggie is an annual tradition & this year, I ended up with it (after giving up my precious candle!).  It was funny, but I'm gifting it to my nephew for Christmas :)

Oh yeah, we also managed to go to Paris as well!  We had a blast & I will share more details of the trip in a later post.  Can't wait to go back!

How has YOUR December been so far?  I can't wait for Christmas!

Weekend in Columbus

Mr. Q had to go to Ohio for a meeting, so I decided to take advantage of the situation & tagged along :)  I was able to spend a lot of time with family & friends, so I was a pretty happy girl.  I also got to meet baby M, the adorable daughter of my best friend from kindergarten - high school & college roomate freshman - junior year.

Table for 18, please!  Dinner at Marcella's (yum).

This was my second Ohio State game of the year!  Luckily, we won this time :)  Our seats were in C Deck (the top tier) and 3 rows from the tippy-top of the stadium.  It was like climbing a ladder to get to our seats & I made the trip 3 times.  Burning. Quads. Ouch.

Oh, she is so, so sweet.  I wanted to pack her into my suitcase and bring her back to Chicago with me!

I love going home to Ohio & can't wait to see everyone again at Christmas!

Hope you all had a great weekend!

Paris

As a follow-up to my post on Friday, here are some of my favorite picture from the last trip my mom & I took to Paris.  I wanted to blog about it back then, never got around to it & now that my husband and I booked a trip I wanted to finally share them with you!

Okay, so it's more about going through all of our pictures again and reliving my favorite city.  But I thought you might like to see them, too :)

Any country that stocks great cheeses in their gas stations is a country for me.  Our drive from Normandy to Paris was quite easy and we loved seeing the countryside.

Every time I've gone to Paris I have stayed in St. Germain/Latin Quarter & Notre Dame tends to be one of the first things I see each morning.  It takes my breath away.  It never gets old.

I love the neighborhoods that line the Seine.

My favorite thing to do in Paris is to walk.  Walk the neighborhoods, stopping in at random coffee shops, flower stalls (they are everywhere & are always gorgeous), shops.

While we mostly avoid Starbucks in favor of neighborhood joints, I love that Starbucks food offerings vary from country to country.

Looking back, I remember how chilly we were for most of the trip.  Though we were there in spring, I anticipate the weather being quite similar, thereby dashing my hopes for a wardrobe filled with skirts & tights...

We will most definitely stop in to the Petit Casino on the Left Bank to stock up on my beloved Mention Biens (aka store brand Petit Ecolier).  Love!

Paris Rooftops from Montmartre

We saw Moulin Rouge the last time we went to Paris.  Let's just say that the night it involved too much champagne, "Paris danse!", and later dancing with a random old man who then leveled all of the table surrounding the dance floor & accusing someone of stealing money...only to realize that I had on the wrong coat and my wallet was safely in the pocket of my jacket.  It was a blast.

A picture out front would just have to do for this trip :)

We opted for the Musee D'Orsay this trip, but had a great time walking around the courtyards of the Louvre.  I love this picture.

 A toute a l'heure, Paris!

Oh How I Love Paris in the Fall...

Sure, it might be chilly & wet...but I cannot wait to spend a week in Paris in November!

My post on Wednesday was inspired by googling hotels & restaurants for our spur-of-the-moment booking of a trip to Paris over Thanksgiving week.  I was picturing myself strolling through my favorite parts of the city & could smell the boulangeries.  Ahh...

Outfit/Packing-wise, the weather concerns me.  I am thinking skinny jeans with cropped jackets, knee length dresses & skirts with tights and am on the hunt for the latter.  I will definitely write more about this later, as I am going to want/need some input :)  But until then, I'll leave you with some of my favorite pictures from the last time my mom & I went to Paris & Normandy (yep, still never blogged about it...this will have to do!).

Shadow of Mont St. Michel

Wheel

Petit Dejeuner in Bayeux

D-Day Beaches

American Cemetery

The flowers matched mom's sweater - parfait!

Deauville/Trouville

My next picture post will feature...Paris!
